To Write Love On Her Arms — A nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources for and spreading awareness of depression, addiction, self-injury, and eating disorders.

Best Thing You Never Had — One person’s view on what it’s like to be depressed. This blog is updated almost daily.

Boys to Men — A nonprofit organization dedicated to mentoring young men, in order to fight adolescent addiction, crime and depression.

It’s a Confusing Life — A website with information on self-injury and living with multiple diagnoses.

FirstSigns — A nonprofit organization based in the UK, dedicated to spreading awareness of self-injury. They offer guidance and support, and cover other controversial issues. Follow them on Twitter!

Rising Above Magazine — An online magazine created by and for victims and survivors of abuse.

Survivors United — A website created by Rising Above to give survivors a safe place to share their stories.

Herpes Help — Genital herpes, oral herpes and STD resources and support. Be sure to check out the Buzz Blog there as well, which is full of information on sexual health and what it’s like to live with herpes.

Self-Injury: A Struggle — A support site for those struggling with self-injury. This can also be a great resource for close friends and family members. There is also a section on celebs who self-injure.

The Secret Cut — The Secret Cut was released on March 1st 2008, in honor of Self-Injury Awareness Day. The film is informative for close friends and family, as well as for people who are struggling with self-injury. Dr. Lisa Boesky, Ph.D. and Jayme Badoud are dedicated to making people aware that people who self-injure are not “freaks” or “emo” and deserve respect and kindness. Dr. Lisa has written a book on the subject and has appeared on several talk shows in order to help parents whose teens self-injure.

RAINN — The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network provides free, confidential services to victims of sexual abuse, rape, and incest. You can call their hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE or you can use their online crisis center for support and help. (Special thanks to Kristen Barone for this resource!)
